Instilling and Nurturing the Mindset for Effort-Less Effectiveness™.

August 04, 20246 min read

“Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.” - Henry Ford;

I often reflect on how to improve the process of instilling the mindset that leads to higher levels of performance in professional sports and in business. I recently taught my eight-year-old son that humans have a special power to decide and mold their future.  You can decide to have a bad day tomorrow or choose to take things lightly and have a great day.  Although the approach won't ensure a flawless tomorrow, it will undoubtedly enhance your capacity to handle any unexpected situations and raise the likelihood of an amazing day.

Imagine being in line at Starbucks and finding out that they are out of your favorite coffee.  You could choose to be angry, call the manager, or scream. . . Perhaps this is a moment that was meant to serve your purpose in discovering a new and better flavor of coffee.  Choosing to be flexible and adopting the attitude that everything happens for a reason and serves your purpose may help guide your mind to find what that purpose is and reduce your blood pressure in the process.

Instilling and nurturing Effort-Less Effectiveness™ in your daily life can be achieved much faster and with greater ease with the help of a Peak Performance™ coach.

Dissecting the Features of Mindset

The law of inertia

Newton's First Law of Motion states that an object in motion tends to stay in motion unless an external force acts upon it. Similarly, if the object is at rest, it will remain at rest unless an unbalanced force acts upon it. In the same way, working and moving towards reaching a higher level of effectiveness will require effort, and once in motion, it will become easier to stay in motion towards reaching Effort-Less Effectiveness™.

Conservation of energy

The first law of thermodynamics informs us that, in a closed system, energy cannot be created or destroyed; it can only be converted from one form to another. When we translate this law to the process of achieving a higher level of performance, we deduce that we must manage our energy wisely. A Peak Performance™ coach will not guide you to put the pedal to the metal, as it will inevitably result in you burning out.  On the contrary, you will be guided to reflect on where you can slow down to accelerate.  Even race car drivers must slow down and negotiate curves on the road if they want to win; otherwise, they’ll end up in a ditch somewhere.

Effectiveness

The second law of thermodynamics informs us that you can never make a machine that converts 100% of the energy. Reaching Peak Performance™ involves using an approach that is structured, strategic, systematic, and scalable to become more effective.

Define your vision

We work on establishing a clear vision and, more importantly, formulating it in a way that aligns the conscious and subconscious mind. This helps to focus and reduce misdirected output, as well as create new awareness of distractions that reduce your effectiveness.

Limiting beliefs

Paradigms are mental programs that have almost exclusive control over our habitual behavior. . ., and almost all our behavior is habitual. Most often, we don’t realize the self-sabotage masked behind a limiting belief and the only limit to our progress is our belief system.

The acronym GIGO is used in computer science to describe that if you put garbage in, you will get garbage out.  The good news is that, like a computer, mental programs can be changed to produce different results and become more effective.  A performance coach will help recognize limiting beliefs that are holding us back.

Instilling the mindset

As children, we first learned to crawl to move around.  Then we learned to walk and run to get us to our destination more effectively.  In the same way, what got you to where you are today will not necessarily get you to where you want to be tomorrow.  New awareness is often necessary to move on to the next level.

We believe that there are three inner powers that are fundamental to reaching Peak Performance™.  These are the abilities to: embrace and express gratitude, instill self-belief in yourself and others, and seek excellence in everything you do.

Nurturing the mindset

In psychology, priming refers to instances where exposure to one stimulus affects a subsequent response to a second stimulus.  We use a priming method that reinforces our new mental programs to break away from habitual behavior.  Priming allows us to apply new routines in a way that is mindful, intentional, and present.

We use a four-step approach that enables you to activate your body, relax your mind, affirm your aspirations, and visualize the desired results. With time, as new synapses are created in our brain, we create new habits and eventually, in a few weeks, find it easier to apply the actions that lead to the results that we seek.

Your inner powers

Practice

There is no shortcut. Studies show that it takes over twenty-one days of focused, sustained, continuous, and disciplined practice to create new synapses in our brains and to willingly free ourselves from bad habits that we may have developed over the years. Applying this process mindfully and consistently will prevent you from getting back to old habits.  The good news is that you can expect to begin seeing results within weeks from the time you begin to implement a clear strategy.

Caution! Skipping a day breaks momentum and slows down your transformation.

Continuous improvement

As previously explained, the mindset for Peak Performance™ involves seeking excellence. Part of seeking excellence is accepting that perfection is not of this world.  Excellence is not about perfection but about being the best that you can be at every opportunity.  We believe that innovation is part of the process of seeking excellence.  As we introduce innovations, we also create new inefficiencies.  We can optimize the new process to maximize the results that are aligned to our goals and reduce the ones that are not.

In summary, Peak Performance™ is achieved by managing your energy, prioritizing what is important for you, aligning your thoughts and actions to a greater vision, and being mindful, intentional and present in what you do to get to your vision. You will increase your effectiveness by slowing down to create time and space in your schedule to reflect on continuous improvement and become aware of the limitless potential that resides in you.

To put it simply, mastering your efforts to align on purpose and practice relentlessly enables you to create your mindset of Effort-Less Effectiveness™.
